Various things, I listen to various things. The one thing that I do not listen to are audiobooks or anything that needs to have my full attention because whatever it is I am listening to is the least of my priorities. Whatever I am listening to needs to be consistently paused or rewound or lowered in volume — and then later on completely forgotten.
That being said, these are the things that I “listen” too:
Plain old music
I just hit up good old YouTube, type in the songs that I want to listen to and then that’s it. Genre-wise, it’s just what I want to listen to. If I think soft pop is what I want to listen to then, I do that. If it’s hard rock that I want to listen to, then I go look for that and then I just turn the volume really low. Same goes with artists: I just listen to who I feel like listening to that day
Classical playlists
There are YouTubers out there that have created videos that match a certain theme or a mood. I usually gravitate towards this. There aren’t any lyrics so its not as distracting as the one with lyrics. Plus, because they already fit a certain mood, the songs beat per minute would stay the same for at least three hours straight. I found playlists that have a random song that suddenly becomes hyper in a more solemn playlist very distracting. A more consistent beat is less distracting.
Bullet Journaling Videos
I also do bullet journaling so I do watch those videos or at least listen to it while they explain what they do and what they think is a good idea to place in their journals. Plus, the accounts who do the “no-talking” type of videos choose really good background music. Its like they have found the treasure trove of really good music and I absolutely love it!
Podcasts?
Lastly, so like podcasts(?) but again on YouTube. But nothing too heavy or educational.
Long story short: everything that I listen to should be background noise nothing intellectual or needs all of my attention.
And at the end of the day, I turn my music off when I think that it already becomes too distracting.
