It’s Banned Books Week! This means that we acknowledge the reading laws that have banned certain books to be read by the general public. This is a very touchy subject not just in the reading community but in the general civilized society.
I do have some thoughts about this.
Here is my take about banned books: I agree that books should not be banned however, the education system must have a set of core values that support, promotes, and advocate human rights, dignity, and moral. There has to be a moral compass that is created to make the banning of books justifiable.
The main reason books are being banned is because books and the words that they contain and carry ideologies that can easily be spread out into just about anyone that have access to books (everyone can thank Gutenberg and his printing press for that). This creates some kind of fear when collectivity kicks in and the public gains some “secret knowledge” or some ideas that are “wrong”.
So, in turn, the public begs the question: for whom is it wrong? who made the mistake? is there someone or something that is correct? is there truth in what is being said? is it really wrong or did the truth just hurt?
So, ban the books that are truly detrimental to society and human dignity and religious freedom. For example, ban those because that actually promote hatred. They have to be immoral and justifiably wrong.
At the same time, Do NOT ban the books just because you don’t like the topic. Maybe this hurtful topic is the truth.
DO NOT BAN THE TRUTH. FACE IT!
Hi! I don’t have a list of banned books to read because they differ from place to place. You can go research on that for yourself and then ask yourself why it is banned.
