Review:

Rating: 3 out of 5.

My sister made me read this claiming that this may be one of the webtoons that kept her awake at night. It was creepy – or very thought provoking. Probably one of Oh Sungdae’s first attempt at a horror comic. I would say that this was a very good attempt but reading his new ones show that he has come a long way.

Guilt. It’s about guilt and the way that it easts you alive – all puns intended. And revenge. I’d say that as one of the earlier creations of Oh Sungdae this was very good narrative in that it told a story with a solid beginning – you knew who the characters were and what they were doing –  it had a good middle and rise of action – one would feel the intensity as soon as Cho was reserved and babbled his lies and started hallucinating. My one problem is that it is way too short. This is not in the hyperbolic way and everything is said in unnecessary exaggeration; I just feels incredibly short.

There would have been a few things I would have done to stretch out the story. One being I want to see his hallucination to go a little longer; allow it to brew a little bit more and destroy him. Make him do everything he can to get rid of the hallucinations and when it is about to get healed, make him experience the last scene. Like give a little bit more hope to the reader and then break it.

            Pretty much that is it.

Placed under the horror genre, there really is not much of a horror anything going on. Gory probably; or the idea of gore lurking in the corner. But in the traditional sense of the word, it does not really fully fit-in. However, suspenseful is  a better way to describe it. The suspense is so much more noticeable than the horror. I think, I could even say that the suspense is making it more scary.

To sum it all up, I really liked the manhwa. I am actually reading this for the fourth time as I write this. If you are looking for a scary manhwa, this isn’t the manhwa to  read; though there are scary parts, it just istn horror enough. However, if you are looking for suspense, then this is the way to go.

Was it bad? Nope! But you can definitely see how Oh Sungdae has progressed in his art.
