Summary:

Jin-seon is a teenager that grew up under the shadow of his father, a psychopathic serial killer. With Jin-seon’s morality in question, he decides to run away and expose his father and make him pay for his crimes. Only his father has a lot more resources and is a lot smarter than his son. Now comes a cat and mouse chase between father and son, a very deadly and lethal chase.

Review:

Carnby Kim and Youngchan Hwang created a story that cleverly spins the topic of nature versus nurture. Jin-seon questions his morality during the entirety of the webtoon, to the very last episode he still asks whether he will be a serial killer himself or was he already one. In 93 episodes, the webtoon was able to properly portray Jin-seon questioning his morality by simply questioning whether the things he does is a reflection to what his father has taught him, or a reaction.

We also see characters, who later on became his friends, that are also gray in character but try to become good people; or at least do what they perceive as good. They showed him that people do struggle and that’s part of life and there is nothing to be ashamed about, but then there are those people who are evil in all sense of the word. I appreciated the people around him who in spite of all the wrongs that have happened in their life, never became evil or have chosen the good despite the shortcomings that they have.

However, I felt short-sighted when they were re-telling the backstory of Jin-seon’s family and their dynamics. I do wish that they elaborated more on the mom’s death and how it has fully affected Jin-seon and his upbringing.

Otherwise, it’s definitely worth the read.
