A Really Bad Summary:

It was time G.H. Fretwell’s book tour. Riddled with anxiety and fear, he reluctantly leaves his house, checked into a hotel, wakes up early every morning to step foot in that always empty bookstore.

For the longest time, all that Fretwell has feared never came true and he became dismissive of the world; even when the whole world fell into chaos.

Review:

This book was honestly quite confusing for me because of how sullen the entire narrative is. However, the more that I and follow the main character the more invested i get in what is happening to him – and there really wasn’t much that was happening to him.

This book is a slow burn – an absolute of slow burn that if the story begins at a zero the peak of the story is at a 3 – it never really goes to a 10.

So, was it bad? Not at all. The opposite actually: as the story progresses, we finally root for the character to finally do something. There was something so irritatingly complacent about him in spite of everything that was happening to him and around him. But even if we watch him not get bothered at everything that was happening, I am still so amazed how oblivious he was and how he can avoid all the bad things that happened at the hotel, the book shop, and even the bridge that he uses every day. He was always within a hair’s breadth from danger.

In that way it was pretty cool.
